Art Solutions

Posted on: 21st Mar 2019

As a school, we know that exciting and interesting displays not only make the school community more inviting, but can start conversations and create engagement from students.

Recently, we had an Art and DT week with the theme of “recycling and our planet”. We invited various artists to work with the children and taught lessons based on the theme too. However, one of the companies we invited in provided something really different that created such a huge buzz and supported the children to create 6 outstanding art pieces.

The company, Art Solutions, create huge pieces of art using a combination of recycled material and tissue paper. They have many different options available: scenes from fairytales, jungles, landscapes and recreations of famous pieces of art. We opted for the latter, and through consultation with staff, decided on 6 iconic paintings that we were going to recreate.

The art days were incredibly good fun: the school was turned into an art studio with all year groups contributing to year group projects. The organiser advised on which year groups would be best suited to each piece of art and it was the skill of the artists, combined with the enthusiasm of the children that made the project such a success whilst also creating a real buzz around art and the artists they were imitating. The work is now up around the school and has really livened up our hallways. The great thing about these projects is that they are built to last and the company even recommends moving them around every few years so that they refresh the look of the school environment.

It’s hard to do justice to the work through words but everyone who worked on the projects or has seen them since have been amazed, so please do come in and see for yourself!
