Caretaker: Part-Time (2 days per week)
Start Date: 1st September 2026
Contract: Part-Time (2 days per week plus overtime)
Salary: £13,355 per annum (FTE £33,387)
Are you a reliable, practical and proactive individual with experience in caretaking, maintenance or facilities management? WGPS is seeking a Caretaker to help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff and visitors. Working as part of our site team, you will undertake a wide range of caretaking duties including general maintenance, site security, health and safety checks, supervising contractors and supporting the day-to-day operational needs of the school. Driving duties may also be required from time to time, although this is desirable rather than essential.
Experience in a similar role is desirable, although experience within an independent school setting is not essential. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly and supportive school community and play a key role in maintaining our outstanding learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the school site is safe, secure, clean and well-maintained at all times.
- Undertake general caretaking, maintenance and site security duties.
- Support the day-to-day operational needs of the school, including setting up facilities for school activities and events.
- Carry out routine health and safety checks and report any issues promptly.
- Liaise with contractors, suppliers and other service providers as required.
- Provide support to colleagues and assist with additional duties as directed by the Site Manager or Bursar.

We are looking for a candidate who is resilient, flexible and meets the following criteria:
- Experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities or similar practical role is desirable.
- A reliable, proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and positive manner.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards and taking pride in your work.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Part Time Nurse (2 days per week)

We are looking for a warm, kind and compassionate Part-Time Nurse to support pupils’ care. The successful candidate will share the full time position with our current Nurse to provide a high standard of care and first aid to our pupils as well as promoting physical health and emotional wellbeing to all our staff on site.
About the Role
The School Nurse takes an active part in school life and is responsible for the efficient operation of the Medical room, ensuring that pupils, staff and visitors to the school are provided with professional and compassionate medical care and first aid.
Liaising with the Head of School and the Bursar, the School Nurse takes a proactive role in all of the School’s health matters. This includes providing advice, drafting communications, updating relevant medical policies and protocols as required in line with government guidelines and related school policy documents.
The School Nurse, in liaison with the Inclusion Team, coordinates the Pastoral care of pupils, providing a kind, listening, holistic service to all pupils, respecting individuality and confidentiality.
About You
The successful candidate will need to be passionate about health and wellbeing and deliver holistic care to our pupils. They should have an empathetic approach and enjoy the company of primary aged children and will have:
- A RGN or RSCN/RN qualification or equivalent
- Registration with the NMC
- A minimum of 5 GCSE grade C and above (inc. Maths and English)
- Experience in a school environment
- Clinical track record with ideally 6 months spent in A&E or as a Practice Nurse
- Liaise and communicate effectively with others
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the school
- Demonstrate good organisational skills
- Experience of working in the Independent sector
- Strong communication and IT Skills
