Geography

“A high-quality geography education should inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.”

(The 2014 Primary National Curriculum in England)

Everything in our lives is Geography. At Woodford Green Preparatory we aim to inspire our children’s curiosity and fascination about the world and its people by giving them knowledge of diverse places and understanding of key physical and human processes. We encourage them to observe, make connections, explain and evaluate the things they see in order to have a better understanding of the world in which they live.

Through our teaching of Geography, we aim to stimulate pupils’ interest in and curiosity about their surroundings, increase their knowledge and understanding of the changing world and encourage pupils to ask questions and propose solutions to environmental problems.  We equip and develop pupils’ competence in specific geographical skills and foster a sense of responsibility for the Earth and its resources.

We aim for our pupils to develop a knowledge and responsible awareness of local, national and international human and physical geography.  We aim to inspire pupils to think about their own place in the world, their values and responsibilities to other people and the environment.
