Ziana Butt - England Netball Player & Author

Posted on: 11th Oct 2022

On Tuesday 11th October, the author and netball player Ziana Butt visited Year 2 and 5 children at WGPS to read her story and deliver a netball workshop. Ziana has written a children's book, Aisha's Netball, with the hope of encouraging children to get involved in sport. The children’s story is a wonderful and innovative tale that surrounds itself around a South Asian female, pursuing her love of netball.

Ninteen year old Ziana is the first person of Pakistani heritage to represent England in netball, playing for England NETS U21s at the World Indoor Netball Championships in 2019. Now playing for England Mixed Netball, Saracens Mavericks U21 and Academy Prem,  Ziana also volunteers in schools to share her love of netball. This work has seen her nominated for the 2020 Asian Women of Achievement Awards, The British Muslim Awards and in 2022, winning the England Netball Young Volunteer of the Year award.
