Welcome to Woodford Green Preparatory; our happy, vibrant and thriving school. 

 

At WGPS, we believe every child is capable of achieving great things. We encourage our pupils to strive for their very best through a commitment to academic rigour and excellence, without compromising on the broad range of opportunities and experiences within the curriculum and co-curriculum, which create an innovative and progressive learning environment.

Pupils learn best when they are happy and feel secure. Our talented and dedicated staff work hard to ensure that each pupil is supported through personalised pastoral care and personal development.

Our broad and exciting curriculum is designed to stimulate a lifelong love of learning. Pupils not only become knowledgeable and intellectually curious but also develop independence, resilience, open-mindedness, and kindness. This is reflected in our most recent ISI Inspection Report, which states, "The social development and collaboration of pupils is excellent. There is a profound culture of care and kindness across the whole community, and relationships are warm and mutually supportive."

This week, we held our first Celebration Assembly! It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise pupils who have gone above and beyond in demonstrating our school values. We celebrated music exam results,, charity fundraising, sporting achievements, resilience in assessments, and pupils who have made a brilliant start in their new classes. This year’s Prizegiving was a joyful celebration of music, memories and community. Highlights included performances from our Gwynne Solo Singing and Clemence Cup winners, a lively set from Year 6 band One Perfection, and a heartfelt speech from the Head Boy and Head Girl. We also welcomed back Old Red Crispin Reed, whose hilarious tales from his WGPS days had the audience laughing throughout, and Mrs Patel, who shared a moving tribute to the school and its staff. It was a fantastic evening. Thank you to everyone who helped make it so special. The message for Year 6 was loud and clear - you have made the most of a great foundation, and now you are ready to write the next chapter of your story. Our brilliant Bollywood Club wowed their audience not once but twice! After a term of hard work, they performed with incredible energy, style and confidence. Year 6, you are a class act! Parents and staff watched your final production, The Wrong Way Round, with great pride. The character and personality of this year group shone through. There were some standout performances. The evil Miss Sharman was brilliant, and the solos, duets, and Thriller dance moves had us all wanting to join in! You’ve been in the spotlight recently with an incredible few weeks of achievements, from your fantastic performance in the play to your energy and teamwork on Sports Day and at the Swimming Gala. Thank you to the PTA for our brand new Science Hub. We are excited to unveil this fully refurbished space designed to spark curiosity and elevate scientific learning. From state of the art digital microscopes and rugged robots to cutting edge cooking equipment and portable ovens for hands-on experiments, our hub is packed with exciting new resources including a fresh set of lab coats, a new skeleton model, and an interactive whiteboard to bring lessons to life. There is also a cosy science reading corner, air purifying plants, a working wall for projects, and plenty of storage to keep everything organised and ready to go. A huge thank you to our incredible PTA for making this possible with their generous support. We can not wait to start the year with a scientific bang! 🚀         — WGPS () Jun 30, 2025

A fantastic day at the Olympic pool for our 2025 Swimming Gala. Fifty-eight races gave pupils the chance to compete, challenge themselves, and support one another. Parental support from the stands added to the atmosphere and spurred swimmers on. Whether you left with a wristband, a medal, or the satisfaction of giving your best, you should be proud.
