Design Technology Car Project

Posted on: 14th Mar 2019

In DT this term we have been making electric cars. We started by creating a drawing of our car and working on the design. We used rulers to ensure it was all accurate and to scale. We then set about sawing the wood and creating frames for the wheels, motor, battery and switch to sit on. Reinforced cardboard was used on the corners to add strength. Next we created a simple circuit and discovered that the motor would run in different directions depending on how the electricity flowed through it. We then made axle holders, pulley systems and put wheels on too. It was really fun. After we had finished building our models we got to test them. We took them to the playground to see who's worked the best. Akshaye won the race as his was the fastest but also went in a straight line!
